The fake antivirus (also called Rogue Software) are fraudulent security programs which do the opposite of what is supposed.
What do they do?
Simulate that they analyze the system and display default infections we do not really have, to make users believe they are infected. In addition they request an amount of money to protect you.
How they appear?
They can appear in many ways; when you are browsing through a message, banners, pop-ups, in emails, inside other programs?

Every day we are exposed to losing our data: infected emails, malicious websites, unsafe downloads, removable drives ... There are programs that are installed without our consent, designed to cause damage or loss of data, they are viruses.
To counter these evils, many companies have created the Antivirus. There are for different operating systems, payment, free, basic, advanced. The Antivirus are responsible for detecting threats that occur and help to prevent or remove viruses that rarely stay.
It is highly recommended to have an Antivirus installed on the system to avoid potential risks, but if you really want to ensure the continuity of your data the best is also to have a system backup to return to restore data prior to infection or loss of information.
