Backup Day

Cuts in security in the company?

published by Yildun Cloud Backup 2015-01-08
topic: Backup

For several years, companies are being forced to make cuts, especially in SMEs, that is small and medium size companies. As consequence of the crisis, the services, that are not considered necessary or perhaps indispensable, are eliminated, probably without believing that they are really indispensable.

One of the services that the companies take importance away from are the backups. Additionally, they suposse that they can do the same function in a 'domestic' way, for example, copying data to external drives manually.

There are many factors that are ignored as:

  • store backups in a different place of the original
  • data encryption
  • the restoration of several versions of the same file
  • schedule tasks for its execution

Sacrificing the security of the data is not the best solution for the continuity of your business, considering that in the medium/long term, the loss of data can be detrimental to the survival of the company.

Restorations

Yildun Cloud Backup allows the recovery of a complete copy, a partial one with the selection of files that are required, versions of the same file from different dates. The selection is done through a simple interface where you can browse for a directory tree and select easily the desired files:

Online or offline
It is possible to have an on-line recovery of data at any time of the day. Depending on the size of the data and of the available channel, the system calculates the necessary time for the restoration online. It is recommended that the copy should execute offline (across an external support) in case the volume to restore is big enough.

Request of the client or ordered by the host
The host may order the recovery of the data in the client without requiring the intervention of this one. In addition it can schedule periodic recovery to an external support as alternative system of safeguard.

In a third machine
In case of total disaster the client application can be re-installed on a third machine and request from it the recovery of the data. The host sends the software to the new machine and the necessary configuration information to put the client at the moment before the disaster.

In the original directory or in a secondary directory
The client can choose if he wants to replace the data with the last version recovery or just have them in a secondary directory.

Advantage of doing backup with Yildun

topic: Backup

Nowadays there are several actions that are carried out, as it is the world backup day (March 31), to make people aware of the importance of doing backup of their business. However there are numerous companies that do not adequately take this action into practice. Next we will see the basic issues of Yildun Backup Remote:

  • The execution of copies: Make a correct backup requires a strict monitoring by specialists. This is a point that companies overlook it, due to the fact that they do not make serious follow-up. With Yildun backup remote you are not concern about it and you guarantee that copies are doing correctly, in fact that there are qualified technicians who are responsible for verifying that the copy has been done correctly or intervening if it is necessary.
  • Which data is copied: When you install the system, may you not introduce all data that you needed at that time, and that's why then, you do not find the data that you thought you were getting backups. But if you have Yildun backup, you are able to add and delete any data that you want to copy at any time. Thus, you do not have to worry in case that you would like to make a copy of a particular folder.
  • Backups are stored in different places: Due to catastrophic situations, fire, theft, flood etc. the copy cannot be in the same place where the server is located. That's why, if we have a remote backup program such as Yildun, we always are going to have a copy in both local and remote to avoid not having any copy faced with disasters.
  • Importance of replication: When companies make copies of their data, they forget to replicate that information, even just leave them in one place, computer, usb, removable disk... often to reduce costs. But it could happen that any of these items fail, breakdown, get lost... with Yildun you can be quiet because information is replicated to three remote sites and the information is always encrypted with keys that only the client and the client program control.
  • It is not necessary a manager for copies: When you make backups of your business, often there is not a clear administrator, which causes to forget the storage device, not contact techs in case of informatics error... which leads finally the recovery of the copies become impossible. But this problem mitigate with Yildun cloud backup, because there are qualified people to put in charge of verifying copies are successful done and deal with any incident if it is necessary.
