Indectable virus in USB

How many times we make use of a usb device either at work or at home to transfer data from other devices to the computer or even use it to store information?

Digital security researchers Karsten Nohl and Jakob Lell have presented a study about an error USB protocol that allows the PC to take over where pendrive connect completely unnoticed. The virus goes unnoticed because their files are housed within the chip itself and the device is undetectable and impossible to erase. It is also capable of all kinds of evil actions, from installing a virus to alter files, collect data, recorded texts are introduced, spy messages etc.

The concern is that when inserting it into the computer, it is exposed to all kinds of infections and becomes source of infection for other USB to connect to your computer. That is, they can infect other USB devices, spreading the virus.

Therefore, the only solution that experts recommend is to use only USB devices on your own computer and your own devices only.

Remember the police virus? Well, now there is another one that is very similar, the SGAE virus, which blocks your computer until you make the payment they ask for.

In this case, the bait they use is that you have illegally downloaded music and when you open it is when the threat appears with your computer blocked.

In order to get rid of the SGAE virus, you have to do the same process as with the police virus.

Another virus in recent years is Disstrack, also known as Shamoon. In particular, it's a worm.

Disstrack overwrites and destroys several kinds of documents (documents, pictures, videos) that are found in different files: Downloads, My Documents, My Images, Videos and Music in the Windows operating system.

Besides leaving the kinds of documents mentioned useless, it also modifies the system's master boot record so that it won't start again.

The propagation of this worm was carried out through shared network drives, P2P applications and via email.

Have you downloaded an unknown attachment and now it has some encrypted files? Well, it's likely that your computer is infected with the virus known as Cryptolocker.

This malware encrypts some files it has access to, both in local hard drives and network hard drives. After performing this kind of data encryption, a message pops up on your screen that informs you that you have to make a payment in a certain amount of time in order to decrypt everything.

We always remind you that it is essential to have a remote backup service to ensure the continuity of your most important files.

The phone call fraud

This happened to an acquaintance a couple days ago. It's a phone call scam where they pretend to be Microsoft support technicians.

They tell you that they're receiving constant security warning from your machine and that they have to enter remotely to fix it, since they might be using your computer to infect others.

When asked how one should know they are really who they say they are, they tell you to look at your product code, since only the owner and Microsoft know it. What they do is tell you to execute an "assoc" command, which gives you the CLSID number that they tell you so you confirm it. Using this command, almost all Windows systems have this number.

Once confirmed, they remotely access your device and can install any kind of virus. If that wasn't enough, they tell you that, to fix the problem, you have to pay an annual protection fee, which, if you accept, they can get your credit card number. If you refuse to pay, they say that they won't give you the password and you won't be able to use your machine, not even in safe mode.

You have to keep in mind that Microsoft doesn't make unsolicited phone calls.
